IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FIND A THERAPIST THAT IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU.

Lisa Smith LPC provides therapy to adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Lisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an EMDR-trained therapist. Lisa strives to create a safe and comfortable environment for clients to do the necessary and at times challenging work of healing. Clients would note Lisa’s ability to meet them where they are and offer gentle nudges toward the growth of their stated goals. Lisa values the mind/body connection and enjoys teaching clients about their brains and bodies in a trauma-informed and easy-to-understand way. She believes that when we understand what is going on in the brain, we can understand almost everything else. Lisa also works with body image issues and eating disorders.

Lisa has a passion for adolescents from 13 years of age up to 18 and adults of any age. Lisa also works with families helping them work to communicate more effectively. Lisa uses an attachment-focused, attuned, and eclectic style incorporating many different modalities for an individualized counseling plan. Some of these modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), person-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Gestalt. Lisa has experience working with the LGBTQIA+ communities and enjoys this work greatly. She also works well with people with intellectual and physical disabilities.  She currently provides in-person and telehealth options for therapy.

On a Personal Note….

Lisa has been married for 8 years and has one senior dog she has had since he was a pup and loves like a child. Lisa honors the unique bond that animals have with their humans and understands the role they can play in clients’ journey to healing. Lisa grew up in a religious household in the Midwest where she learned the valuable lessons of unconditional love toward everyone regardless of race, religion, or sexuality. Over the course of her life, Lisa has learned to appreciate many cultures and is always striving to learn about each person’s unique experience. Relocating to Houston as a young adult helped her immerse herself in people who had different experiences from her. During Lisa’s time off she enjoys traveling to new places, browsing bookstores for new reading material, participating in martial arts, and playing video and board games with friends.
